Write to a persecuted Christian

Christians who are persecuted can easily feel alone. They need to feel that they are not forgotten. You can encourage them with a letter.

A convert church is emerging in Libya – but where A Church of Converts Is Emerging in Libya—But Where Is the West’s Support for Persecuted Christians? Something historic is happening in Libya right now. Amid chaos and insecurity, an underground church of native Christian converts is emerging. The Christian church is quietly reemerging in Libya after being driven back during the Arab invasion in the 7th century. Unfortunately, a violent wave of persecution is following. Several Libyan Christians are currently serving harsh prison sentences because of their faith. Since the fall of Muammar Gaddafi in 2011, radical militias have seized power in parts of Libya. The rule of law is under severe pressure, and this is taking a heavy toll on Christian converts and other minorities. This raises an uncomfortable question: Why is the West looking the other way? We helped topple the old regime and create the power vacuum that the militias are now filling. That is why we also have a clear moral and political responsibility. "It is not our religion." That was the message, "It's not our religion." That was the message Darya received as a child when she was forbidden from going to church. The following years were marked by anxiety, an eating disorder, sleep problems, and a deep sense of hopelessness. But God had not forgotten her. When Darya found her way back to church, she experienced Jesus' love and found a completely new hope and a new direction for her life. Today, she leads the church's youth work and is studying theology on the diploma program, which is supported by donors and intercessors of Danish European Mission.

“The Gospel is worth dying for because it is the “The Gospel is worth dying for because it is the only thing that gives eternal life.” Charley Stephansen, pastor at Vestermarkskirken in Grindsted, reflects on “Suffering as a Catalyst.” He shares that persecuted Christians rarely pray for the persecution to end. Instead, they pray for strength to stand firm and for boldness to share the Gospel. Let’s pray for them and for each other so we can experience strength and boldness✨
The Disorder as a Catalyst in the Western World Suffering as a CatalystIn the Western world, persecution is often seen as an obstacle to church growth – but biblically, it's the opposite. Persecuted Christians rarely pray for the persecution to cease. Instead, they pray for strength to stand firm and for boldness to share the gospel amidst opposition. This is something Charley Stephansen, a pastor at Vestermarkskirken in Grindsted, reflects on. He writes, “Their testimony is an important voice to us in our safe environments: the gospel is worth dying for, because it is the only thing that gives eternal life.”🌱
