As of December 1, 2024, Yemen had reported over 249,900 suspected cases of cholera and 861 deaths. This represented 35 % of the global cholera burden and 18 % of globally reported mortality.
Medical aid for the poor and vulnerable in Yemen
Dansk Europamission's intercessors and donors support local Christians in providing medical aid to the poor and vulnerable, regardless of political and religious background.
The non-chronic diseases that the population in Yemen suffers from and that are being treated are cholera, childhood diseases and childhood malnutrition, dengue fever, malaria, measles, tuberculosis, hepatitis B and C, typhoid, and acute diarrhea.
The chronic diseases that the population in Yemen suffers from and that are being treated are diabetes, high blood pressure, coronary artery disease and other heart diseases, lung, liver and kidney diseases, as well as asthma.
Furthermore, parasites and worms in the stomach are treated. There is also prenatal treatment as well as physiotherapy and rehabilitation.
The staff consists of a pediatrician, gynecologist, physiotherapist, hematologist, orthopedic surgeon, dermatologist, and nurses. Furthermore, the project has access to a laboratory.
Four times a year, mobile medical consultations are held in the local community, where 100 people receive a free medical check-up, free laboratory tests, and free medication if necessary.
