How are Christians harassed, discriminated against and persecuted?
The degree to which Christians experience persecution varies greatly from state to state. While Christians in parts of the country are able to practice their faith under certain restrictions, Christians in Orissa experienced bloody attacks in 2008 and 2009. Hindu extremists burned churches and Christian homes, Christians were killed and many had to flee to surrounding forests and refugee camps. In 2023, hundreds of churches in Manipur were destroyed by mobs.
