Christians with a Muslim background cannot legally hold services in church buildings, but must meet privately. Only ethnic Christian minorities such as Assyrians and Armenians are allowed to meet in church buildings.

Danish European Mission has from our partner regarding. Iran received this testimony about an underground church that invited non-Christian family members to a prayer meeting.

Darya says: “I have spoken to my immediate family many times about Jesus, but they have always said no – and even made fun of me and my family.”

“We have a small family community every week in private homes. Last week, during our community, we all felt that we should invite our closest relatives for dinner and worship. Afterwards, we would pray for families suffering these days.”

“Many of my close relatives came last night. Before we started, I said to them: ‘You are free to speak, and you are free to leave – but we will praise Jesus, and then we will pray for families who have lost loved ones and for the situation in Iran.’

“Everyone wept. When we started, I could see some of them were mocking us and laughing – but in my heart, I prayed for them.”

“As we praised and began to pray, the atmosphere changed. They became quiet and peaceful.”

“So I asked one of them, ‘Will you give your heart to Jesus?’ She was so moved and said, ‘I'm scared. In this situation, the regime could come after me and my two boys if they find out I've become a Christian. I don't know what to do.’”

“But later, she asked one of the other members of the house church, ‘How can I become a Christian, and what does that mean?’

“Afterward, I asked several family members how they were doing. Many of them said, ‘It was as if we forgot all our pain and suffering. There was such a lovely peace.’”

“Pray for us for wisdom and courage, so that we can clearly hear from Jesus what we should do going forward.”
