The Danish European Mission has provided food, medicine, clothing and other emergency aid to around 1400 refugees in connection with the extensive refugee situation in Pakistan, where around 2.4 million people are fleeing the fighting between the Taliban and the Pakistani army.

The relief action was carried out by relief workers from our partner organization. A special selection was made of the people that the Danish European Mission wanted to help during the operation. These were primarily families and people who had lost family members, widows, orphans, large families and families with disabled people.

The effort also targeted refugee families that other organizations had not yet reached. The aid arrived in Mardan on May 23, 2009, where it was delivered under controlled conditions to the selected families and victims of the fighting in the Swat Valley.

The Danish European Mission is now planning a new campaign to help even more refugees in northern Pakistan who still need urgent help to survive the traumatic situation.
