In December, the Danish European Mission's field coordinator visited war refugees in eastern Ukraine not far from the frontline. "Everyone was deeply grateful. Many said that no one else helped them - only the church."
One family in particular made an impression on him. "Vicky and her two boys fled the bombings in Kharkiv after her husband was sent to war. When she was later told that her husband had died, she sank into hopelessness."

"But then a woman from the Danish European Mission's partner church's relief team knocked on the door. She gave Vicky winter relief and told her about Jesus," says the Danish European Mission field coordinator. "During her prayer, God touched her. She started reading her Bible and one day the words came alive for her. 'A distant childhood faith has now become strong,' as she told me," concludes the Danish European Mission field coordinator.
Results of the work in 2024
Since the start of the war in 2022, donors have been helping Ukrainians in need, especially the many war refugees, through the churches' compassionate work. The Danish European Mission works with a church in Poltava, which is close to the front.
In 2024, 200 electric blankets, 475 gas cylinders with top burners for cooking, 20 bread ovens and 1240 boxes and bags of food were distributed to families in need. In addition to that, Christian literature was also offered, 950 were distributed in total.
In total, 1240 people were helped close to the frontline in Ukraine in the regions of Summy, Poltava and Kharkiv in 2024.
Thank you to everyone who makes winter relief possible.
