Meriam Ibrahim, a Christian woman from Sudan who was sentenced to be hanged and whipped for apostasy from Islam when she was eight months pregnant, arrived in Italy this morning.

Meriam and her two children were only released for 24 hours before they were arrested again at Khartoum airport.

It is reported that the imprisoned and condemned Sudanese woman Meriam was released this afternoon at 14:00.

Meriam Yehya Ibrahim, the Sudanese woman sentenced to death for apostasy from Islam, gave birth on the morning of May 27 to a baby girl whom she named Maya

According to Meriam Yahya Ibrahim's lawyer, Meriam has gone into labor, but since the warden of Omdurman prison is not available, the prison administration refuses to let her go to the hospital. 

Therefore, the court in Khartoum, Sudan, has just upheld the sentence of 100 lashes and hanging of 27-year-old Meriam Yahia Ibrahim.

She has until tomorrow, May 15th, to renounce her Christian faith - otherwise she must suffer death.
