In Uzbekistan, Christians have filed an appeal for prisoner of conscience Tohar Haydarov with the Supreme Court, they told Forum 18 News.
The officials told the believers that they would be contacted with an answer, but not when - or if - a court hearing would take place. Forum 18 News contacted the Supreme Court to ask about the appeal, but the official declined to talk about the case unless the questions were in writing.
In March this year, Haydarov was sentenced to 10 years in prison for drug possession, which his co-religionists repeatedly and persistently claim is fabricated. An initial appeal of the sentence was rejected in April this year despite numerous violations of legal procedures in the original trial.
