Pray for Christian prisoners of conscience in Libya

One of them is Dia Balao, who we told you about in the previous issue of the Danish Mission to Europe magazine, who on September 4, 2022 at a court in Misrata, Libya, according to the court transcript, was sentenced to death due to apostasy from Islam

Dia is pressured to deny Jesus Christ and return to Islam, but despite his imprisonment and persecution, he stands strong in his faith.

There is no short-term prospect of Dia Balao being released. Conversely, the likelihood of the death sentence being carried out is low, as Dia is convicted and imprisoned in western Libya, under the Tripoli government, which the West supports. The EU representation is following the case, but the fact that the Western-backed Tripoli government can get away with sentencing a converted Christian to death and keeping him in prison shows how much power Islamic militias have in the country and how limited Western influence is in the country.
