On November 11, 2020, Iranian intelligence agents searched Milad Gourdazi, Amin Khaki and Alireza Nourmohammadis homes, as well as the homes of several other converts. They confiscated Bibles, cell phones and computers. No one was arrested, but the converts continued to be harassed and were ordered to refrain from Christian activities - which they refused to do.
In June, Amin, Milad and Alireza each receivedfive years in prison for "propaganda that educates in a deviant manner contrary to the holy religion of Islam" and fined 40 million tomans (approximately 1,600 USD). On August 25, the sentences were upheld on appeal, but the prison terms were reduced to three years each.
An iPreliminary hearing in September was postponed due to an additional court hearing scheduled for December 16. However, the three have now been informed that their presence is not required at that hearing and they have been ordered to report on November 10 to begin serving their sentence.
Intercession is requested to:
- God will encourage and strengthen Milad, Amin and Alireza as they prepare to go to prison for their Christian faith.
- God will give His peace to their families and provide for them throughout their prison sentence.
- The hearing on December 16 will go well and the converts will be eligible for early release.
- Iranian authorities will stop persecuting religious minorities for the peaceful expression of their faith.
