In an attempt to get her daughter married, an Iranian mother takes her daughter Mahnaz to a fortune teller. The mother is convinced that the fortune teller can provide divine guidance when it comes to finding a good husband for her daughter when all else has failed.
Meeting the fortune teller takes an unexpected turn
The meeting with the fortune teller turns out very differently than Mahnaz and her mother expected. Instead of guiding Mahnaz on how to find her soul mate, the fortune teller tells her that she is a woman searching for the truth. The fortune teller invites Mahnaz to a course called "Knowing the Truth", which she also runs herself. Mahnaz's mother is a little hesitant at first about her daughter's participation in the course, but she sees the possibility that Mahnaz could potentially meet the love of her life there.
Mahnaz attends the fortune teller course
Mahnaz is happy to participate in the course because it allows her to air all her thoughts about faith and philosophy, which have otherwise been hidden away in the universe of the mind. Although a few months into the course she hasn't found a husband, she has made some good friends instead. During course discussions, these new friends often try to steer the conversation towards Jesus. Mahnaz later finds out that her new friends are Christians who only joined the course to share the gospel with others. Mahnaz has never met anyone like them and their joy is unmistakable. After the course has been running for a year, it is suddenly shut down by the Iranian state. The state has launched a crackdown on the teaching of alternatives to Islam.
Mahnaz finds Jesus
Despite the course closing down, Mahnaz continues to meet with her Christian friends. In their home, she learns more about Jesus and her curious questions are answered. Although Mahnaz doesn't find the man her mother wants for her, she finds Jesus instead. Mahnaz chooses to become a Christian and joins her friends' house church.
You can help ensure that even more Iranians like Mahnaz have the opportunity to read God's word, come to faith in Jesus and encounter God's love. It costs around 80 DKK to give an Iranian a Bible. The local Christians are experiencing a great revival these years and need more Bibles to be smuggled into Iran to share. Thank you for supporting this cause.
