Kazakh Christians fight false accusations via social media

When the state-controlled media makes false accusations about the church in Almaty, it has to take to social media. Through Facebook, the church thanks them for their prayers and support. At the same time, the church counters the false accusations on its website in a press release and in a video posted on YouTube.

What do you do when a Christian church is unfairly accused of fraud - and using illegal psychotherapy to rob people of money, jewelry and property?

New Life experienced this in Almaty, Kazakhstan on Good Friday. The church service was interrupted by police forces and intelligence services confiscating computers, documents and TV cameras.

At the same time, the largely state-controlled media brought outrageous rumors about the church, including weapons possession. Read about the case and the background of Christian persecution in Kazakhstan here...

The message of Easter was made visible through the raid

Despite the raid and unjust accusations, the church celebrated the resurrection of Jesus on Easter Sunday. It is a powerful testimony to the message of Easter - that although we as Christians may experience persecution, false accusations and humiliation, like Jesus on his way to the cross, we share in his resurrection and triumph with him.

Using social media

Now, with the authorities exploiting the largely state-controlled Kazakh media in an attempt to damage the church's reputation through the false accusations, the church has taken to social media to share their views on the case.

On Youtube, the church has posted this 15-minute video where the priest Ivan goes through the accusations in detail (in Russian). Watch it here...

The case process - from the church's point of view

In addition, the case is described in detail on the church's website, and a press release has been issued describing the church's view of the accusations.

Your church can pray - and share on Youtube!

  1. Your church can pray for the church in Almaty
  2. Record the prayer on video, possibly from the back of the church room, so you can see how many people are participating in the meeting.
  3. Put the video on Youtube
  4. Send the link to info@forfulgtekristne.dk
  5. Then we send the link to Kazakhstan, where the church will post the video on their Facebook page and show it on satellite TV.
  6. NB! It is important that the person praying does it in English and you can hear the words "Kazakhstan" and "New Life church". Then authorities can see that Christians all over the world are following the cause and praying for the church.

Thank you for supporting our brothers and sisters in Kazakhstan.
