Help is needed for the persecuted Christians in Syria. They are trapped in a civil war that has already claimed around 140,000 lives.

Petros* explains to me that the Muslim extremists have taken over the country and that if President Assad resigns, it will mean that the Christians will be exterminated. People are being kidnapped and there are many among the rebels in Syria who are using mafia-like methods to fight for power in Syria.

Food prices have skyrocketed, making life even more difficult for the population. There is simply no food. Petros* explains that he had to sell belongings from his house to escape. He arrived in Jordan with just two pairs of pants and two shirts.

The Christians I spoke to in Jordan are deeply concerned about developments in their country, and most of all they fear that Muslim fanatics will take over Syria and worsen the persecution of the beleaguered Christian minority. The Christians fear for their lives and eventual extinction.

The conflict in Syria has unfortunately resulted in well over 140,000 deaths and more than 6.5 million internally displaced people within Syria's borders, and half of the population (9.3 million) are severely vulnerable due to hunger, according to UN figures. 46 % of them are children who are left without much help because the majority of international aid is only distributed to Syrian refugees outside the country.

Danish European Mission asks for support for:

Food supplies for Christian families in need and milk for babies. Churches are also reaching out to non-Christian families in need. Thank you for any support for Syria's families in need.
