A pastor was sentenced to 11 years in prison by a court in Gia Lai Province on Monday for undermining the country's solidarity policy. 43-year-old Nguyen Cong Chinh was accused of distributing documents against the communist government to reactionary individuals and organizations abroad between 2004 and April 2011.
The court also accused him of "collaborating with foreign organizations to establish several illegal religious organizations and groups with financial support from reactionary organizations in order to oppose the government and divide local ethnic groups." Some sources report that security officers prevented people from attending the hearing. The pastor's lawyer was also not present.
