More of the residents is just like Sergey former alcohol and drug addicts. The goal of the rehabilitation center is to enable homeless people to fully participate in society. The House of Mercy gives them a place to stay, freeing them from living on the streets, in heating pipes, basements or dilapidated buildings.
In winter it can get very cold in Kazakhstan. At the House of Mercy, street people are given the opportunity to receive help to get off the streets.
At the rehabilitation center, street people hear about Christ and what He teaches us. Those who accept him are given the opportunity to begin the spiritual, mental and physical rehabilitation process.
Many of the residents of the home wouldn't be alive if they hadn't been given the opportunity to change their lives with the Bible as their new foundation.
Help for self-help
When the Danish European Mission raises money for the House of Mercy in this magazine, it is not for the center's daily operations. Instead, the center receives help to buy cattle that can be bred, chickens that can lay eggs and feed so that the center can generate income in the future.
Residents at the House of Mercy.
This allows the center to become partially self-sufficient in eggs and meat, but will also be able to sell eggs and cattle, thereby generating income for the work for people on the street. Perhaps just as importantly, residents will help with the care, grooming and feeding of the animals, which can be stimulating and contribute to their rehabilitation.
Thank you for supporting the work of the "street people" in Kazakhstan, who receive help from persecuted Christians in need of their fellow human beings. You can make a difference and extend a helping hand to people in need in society. Together we support them in their ministry to reach people like Sergey with the world's best message of salvation through faith in Jesus Christ.
