Description
A personal account of faith and persecution in Eritrea.
I The song of the nightingale Helen Berhane tells the harsh story of how she was imprisoned for more than two years in a container in her home country of Eritrea.
Her crime was sharing her faith in Jesus through preaching and singing and refusing to renounce her faith.
Reading about Helen Berhane's experiences is uncomfortable, but also inspiring. She lived in squalid conditions and endured torture along the way, but she continued to praise God and encourage the other prisoners, even if it meant harsher and longer sentences.
Helen Berhane's story is a reminder that we should never take freedom for granted, but use our freedom for the glory of God.
Good reviews
Five stars in Kristeligt Dagblad: "A brutal, but also poignant and, not least, unflinching testimony to the persecution of Christians. This is what you get in Helen Berhane and Emma Newrick's book "Song of the Nightingale. A personal account of faith and persecution in Eritrea." Claus Grymer
Thomas Høyer in Impulse: "Again and again I ask myself during the solution why Helen Berhane should suffer so much pain simply because she had committed the "crime" of believing in Jesus and sharing this faith with her countrymen through song, speech and charity. (...) Though truly harsh, the book has a happy ending."
Beautiful softcover, 152 pages.
