Haleh was put in solitary confinement and interrogated at regular intervals. The interrogators threatened her
many different ways and tried hard to make her angry, but she trusted God and remained calm.
Interviewer: How can you be happy here?
One night, Haleh heard someone knocking gently on the door of her cell. Outside stood, to her
surprise, one of the interrogators. "I want to ask you something", she said. "How can you be so happy here? Every time I pass by your cell, I can hear you singing. You are happy." "I feel good with God"Haleh replied. "He's very close to me here".
Then the interrogator asked Haleh if she would pray for her. Haleh sensed that she was very
interested in the Christian faith and asked her if she would repent and turn to Jesus immediately. "I can't do that"she replied. "If I become a Christian, I will lose my job, my livelihood". Then Haleh asked boldly: "I would love to pray for you. But could you please open the door? I want to give you a hug".
The interrogator said yes, and when the door opened, Haleh hugged her. That hug released something inside the interrogator and she started sharing more things with Haleh. "A few months ago I got the New Testament. I read it. And I realized that your God is true and real. Mine is not. And right here, when you embraced me, I felt how warm you are, even though your cell is so cold. It felt like a sign from God."
Haleh was very happy and told her to keep reading the Bible. "God wants to use you - I'm sure of it".
Haleh and her husband were later released on bail and continue to pray for those who interrogated them, and
others they met in prison.
There are many people in Iran like Haleh's interrogator who seek answers in the Christian faith. Thank you so much for ensuring that more New Testaments can be smuggled into Iran. It costs DKK 40 to ensure that a copy of the New Testament can be printed and smuggled into Iran or neighboring countries where Iranians also live.
By reading the New Testament, Muslims in Iran can read for themselves about God's love in Jesus Christ. Please pray for them and extend a helping hand to local Christians who can give the New Testament to people longing to experience God's love.
