In the midst of the Syrian civil war, the Danish European Mission's partner provides emergency disaster relief and supports many refugees every month.
"Without your help we would have given up a long time ago, but now we still have hope that things will get better and that we will survive," says refugee Abu Hanna*, father of four in Syria.
Thanks to the help of the Danish European Mission, refugees traumatized by war receive urgently needed assistance. They are given temporary shelter in parks, schools, public buildings or crammed into empty apartments. Among them are many women and children who have had to flee violence and lost their husbands in the chaos of war.
Food and packages to help you through the winter
The partners in the year-long partnership have been providing emergency aid to internally displaced people since fall 2012. Those in need receive food parcels, baby food, medicine, hygiene items and clothing. During the cold winter months, they also receive jackets, socks, blankets and fuel.
The aid is packed and distributed by local partners in Syria. Relief throughout northern Syria. The aid reaches people in and around Aleppo and remote Kurdish villages and towns in northern Syria, which are largely cut off from aid due to intercultural tensions. In the northeastern part of the country, aid is reaching areas where refugees are seeking protection: al-Hasakeh, Tel
Tamar, Qamishli and Malkieh.
Local Christians are delivering the relief aid
Our local partners know the culture, people and situation of the location quite well and can therefore provide targeted and fast assistance. They have a good local network and avoid overlapping assistance. In many places, they are among the few, sometimes the only ones helping refugees in need.
Emergency aid rhymes with charity
Through practical Christian charity, they are a witness to their fellow human beings. Help is provided to people regardless of their ethnic and religious affiliation. This is also why our ethnically diverse teams are regularly approached by others who want to provide help from other faith communities.
More than ever, those in need in Syria depend on this help. Will you help them?
