Rich and angry businessman found by Christ

He was a rich, young gold merchant who worked in the city bazaar. By the time he turned 20, he had already achieved more success than most people do in a lifetime. Ali could afford all of life's pleasures. He did whatever he wanted, and soon he was a chain-smoking alcoholic, addicted to marijuana and opium.

High as he was on whatever substance was buzzing in his head, he was charming and popular. Business was easy. Every day there was a profit.

But deep down he was very angry. There was poison in his heart. It was especially bad in the morning. He often made his mother feel his rage. Once he even threw cups and saucers at her. She had no answers. He had no answers.

Then Ali had a strange day. Three times, from three different people, he was told that Jesus could change him. And he wanted to change. First a friend from the bazaar came and told him about Jesus. Then in the evening of the same day, two of his friends independently shared the Gospel on the internet.

When the third of his friends started talking about Jesus, Ali was excited and happy. This was no coincidence: one day, three different friends, one message. God was definitely trying to connect with him.

Ali got down on his knees and welcomed Jesus into his life. He knew right away that he had to stop using drugs. After a day of severe withdrawal, he was free. The anger disappeared too. He was filled with peace.

A few weeks later, a friend from the bazaar came by for a fix. He knew that Ali always had a good supply. Ali told him he didn't have any drugs. The friend thought he was joking. Everyone knew Ali always had drugs. But Ali didn't have any drugs for his friend. He had someone much better. And Ali talked to his friend about Jesus Christ, the friend of sinners.

Ali is a typical example of the many thousands coming to faith in Jesus these days. Church growth has very little to do with complex theological arguments, and everything to do with Jesus coming into a messy life, bringing order and living in an Ali or a Fatimeh, bringing joy and purpose.

Pray for that:

  • Ali will continue to grow as a disciple and soul winner
  • more like Ali will meet the living Christ
  • Evangelists will share the Gospel

Give Iranian Christians more New Testaments

Persecuted Christians in Iran are asking for more New Testaments. They are in the midst of a great revival and need New Testaments for the thousands of Iranians who are open to the Gospel.

Millions of people in Muslim Iran live in spiritual darkness. They don't know that they can know God as their loving father - simply by believing in Jesus Christ.

You can help meet their deep spiritual needs by making a gift so that the New Testament can be smuggled to the persecuted Christians in Iran. This means Christians can spread the Gospel and bring hope and joy to people in need.

For around DKK 247, you can help seven people. Your gift will be smuggled into Iran so people can receive the New Testament in their own language. 70 precious copies from you will cost approximately DKK 2,470. There is a desperate need in Denmark to help bring the Gospel to people in Iran.
