Farzana's terrible situation was described in a letter I wrote last year. I can now rejoice our contributors and readers that Farzana is now in sewing school. After suffering abuse, she has now been freed from the slavery she previously labored under. In other words, she has her life back.
Before: Here is Farzana when she still had to work under harsh conditions in a brick factory in Pakistan. After: A happy Farzana, out of poverty and into a sewing school.
Farzana, her mother and siblings earned around 75 DKK a month between them for their hard work at the brick factory. This means that together they earned around 2.50 kr. a day! It's grotesque, inhuman and almost impossible to understand. But the work at the brick factory is now over for Farzana, thanks to our faithful and new donors. And once she completes her training, she will be able to earn much more, helping her family and herself.
The number of girls helped to start a sewing school has increased from 6,358 in January 2012 to 7,158 on February 1, 2013. Thank you very much!
