How are Christians harassed, discriminated against and persecuted?

The degree to which Christians experience persecution varies greatly from state to state. While Christians in parts of the country are better able to practice their faith, Christians in Orissa experienced bloody attacks in 2008 and 2009. Hindu extremists burned churches and Christians' homes, Christians were killed and many had to flee to surrounding forests and refugee camps.

What does the Danish European Mission do

We support local Christians to ensure social development in a poor area in India. Through sewing courses and raising livestock, the population is enabled to be self-sufficient. For example, they can work as seamstresses or have a small farm where animals are raised and sold on. The Christians invite the participants to a Bible study or pray with them before the courses. In this way, poor Indians can meet Jesus and be helped out of poverty at the same time.
