"For you are almighty and do great wonders; you alone are the true God." (Salme 86:10)
Since its inception in 1964, the Danish European Mission has focused on persecuted Christians. First in the Eastern Bloc, and today it applies to the pressured and persecuted Christians, especially in the Muslim world - Christians who in some places unfortunately experience what Psalm 86 verse 14 refers to: I'm being attacked by brutal men, Lord, violent men trying to kill me. They have no respect for you. But see, this is not new at all. In Acts chapter 9 verse 4 we read how Paul persecuted Christians, but was met by Jesus with a: "Saul, Saul, why are you following me?" And in verse 6 also with a call: "But get up and go into the city and you will be told what to do".
Even today, Jesus reveals himself to people who persecute Christians, or sends angels to stand by the persecuted and afflicted. I recently heard a story of a persecutor who wanted to kill an entire Christian family one night, but when he arrived in the bedroom, he saw large angels protecting the sleepers. It was too overwhelming for him, and the next day he came to the family and gave his life to Jesus.
Let us have faith in God and pray that He will reveal Himself to many persecutors.
