The Gospel is not yet widespread in Sri Lanka, and around 30,000 towns in Sri Lanka have no churches. Christians and other minorities regularly face discrimination and even physical attacks, especially from nationalist Buddhist monks. That's why the Evangelical Alliance in Sri Lanka, with support from Danish European Mission donors, has launched a revolutionary church planting project.
The goal is to train 75 churches and 225 church leaders within the next year on the topic of holistic discipleship. This will equip leaders, and therefore their churches, to demonstrate the gospel through action in their communities in innovative and creative ways. The project also aims to plant 10 churches in rural areas where there are no churches yet.
By addressing critical needs such as rural poverty, ensuring water, sanitation and health, and implementing peace-building initiatives, churches seek to demonstrate the gospel and make a positive difference in Sri Lanka.
