For the past month, the Danish European Mission has been following the case of the three Iranian Christian converts who were arrested during a prayer meeting in early September and later imprisoned. On September 21, two of the Christians were released - while the third, Ayoub, was still missing. Fortunately, our partner now reports that Ayoub has been released on bail.

Our partner, Middle East Concern, writes:

Ayoub was arrested along with two other Christian converts on September 5. Since September 8, no one has heard from him or about him, much to his concern, especially after his friends were released on September 21 and knew nothing about Ayoub's whereabouts.

On October 3, after posting bail of 400 million tomans, equivalent to 15,000 USD, Ayoub was released from Lakan prison in the city of Rasht.

Ayoub had spent 10 days in the custody of the revolutionary guard unit before being transferred to solitary confinement in Lakan prison. He had been separated from his friends to be interrogated about the church's finances.

Iranian Christians ask for our prayers

Ayoub's family and friends thank God that he is safe and has been released, but pray that:

  • Ayoub and his friends Morteza and Ahmad will be acquitted of charges related to their peaceful practice of their Christian faith
  • Iranian authorities will stop the persecution of Christians and other religious communities
