Poll: More converted Christians in Iran than previously thought

Polling indicates that up to 800,000 Muslims in Iran may have become Christians, while only 32% of the population identify as Shia Muslims.

Man may however question bythe representativeness of the survey based on the selection method. Firstly, you don't know, the probability with which individual respondents are drawn from the populationwhich makes it difficult to say anything with certainty about margins of error. In addition, there is a risk of self-selection, meaning that only those with a particular interest in the topic participate, andthat you thereby achieve a skewedin the selection process. However, GAMAAN has tried to address these issues by sharing the questionnaire in versatile groups on e.g. Facebook, and respondents' answers have been weighted in accordance with the population in relation to a number of demographic parameters. The survey of Iranians' attitudes towards religion also shows, that 6% of the population is converted from one religious orientation to another,  including Christianity, among others. Iranians are increasingly opting out Shia-Islam, and according to the study, only 32% of the population identifies as Shia-muslims

This development can Among others. be interpreted as a modreaction to the Islamic clerical rule in the country, and the survey indicates a critical attitude towards the regime ruling the country in accordance with Islamic law. According to the survey but68% of the population believes that religious regulations should be excluded from national legislationregardless of whether the majority in parliament are believers. 

For example, an aversion to the prohibition of consuming alcohol can be observed, as the study shows that 35% of the population occasional or regular drinking. Another example that supports the general criticism is Iranians' dislike offor the law of carrying hijab i the public spaces. According to the survey, around 72% of the population is against this injunction. 

Facts: 61,788 new wills in Persian
In 2019 alone, donors made it possible for 61,788 copies of the New Testament to be printed. They are being introduced into the country and our partner estimates that around 15% of all New Testament recipients will become Christians.
