A project employee explains: "There is no doubt that Turks are searching more than before. When you get scared - as many are during COVID-19 - you make up your mind (...). In the Christian faith you get certainty of salvation, but in Islam you don't know if you will go to heaven when you die."
One of those who has come to faith in Jesus after the outbreak of COVID-19 is Gül. Despite being only 24 years old, her life has taken some violent rollercoasters. She became pregnant at 18 and ran away from home. In time, however, her and her husband's families accepted the child and their marriage.
Gül studiedaccounting, and her husband was studying engineering. Although their families supported them under Their studiestheir relationship was under pressure. They ended up cheating on each other and separated. Gül chose a secular lifestyle and called himself an atheist.
It was at this point, that Gül coincidentally found a Christian TV program while searching the internet. She called the number of the follow-up team, but onlyno barely hold a coherent conversation. Gül was angry and her tongue was sharp.
But Jesus revealed himself to Gül. Hun became convinced that it was not was God, who was behind allt it, that had gone wrong in her life. It was Instead.herown stupidity and sin,ashad driven her into problem after problem.
Gül repented and came to faith in Jesus Christ. She experienced a true transformation. She returned to university and her parents. She now works part-time to support the child, and their Is determined to complete his or her education and live a new life. The follow-up team can see how the Holy Spirit works powerfully in Güls life.
Gül is én among many new believers in Turkey. In recent years, churches haverne more and more Muslims are turning away from Islam and instead seek answers in the Christian faith. For many years, the number of Christians with a Muslim background has remained constant at around 4.000-5.000. But these days, it seems that the number is starting to exceed 6.000.
