Amin's life was a mess. He was an aggressive man who was addicted to hard drugs. He often beat his wife and his young son feared him. After arriving in a neighboring country as refugees, Amin now considered leaving his family to return to Iran alone.
But one evening, a stranger invited Amin to a Persian-speaking church. Coming from a strict Muslim background, the thought of joining a church had never crossed his mind. But to his own surprise, he accepted the offer.
In church, the leader preached about Zacchaeus from Luke chapter 19, an outcast, distrusted and hated man. And yet this outcast man is seen, accepted and forgiven by Jesus. Amin realized that he was just like Zacchaeus. During the worship service, he couldn't hold back his tears. He cried to God, "If you really exist, God, then I must have freedom from my addiction!"
Towards the end of the meeting, the leader called everyone forward who wanted to give their lives to Jesus. Amin went forward. The leader opened the Gospel of John and told Amin to go home and read it. Amin did, and as he read it, he felt Jesus speaking directly to him.
The following Sunday, he returned to church and joyfully shared his faith in Christ.
After he surrendered his life to Jesus, he became free from his addiction. After seeing the great changes that happened to him, Amin's wife also later came to faith in Jesus. Amin has completed a discipleship course and his wife loves to help lead Sunday school.
Thank you for praying for the church in Iran and reaching out to local Christians to give the New Testament to people longing to experience God's love. It costs DKK 40 to ensure that a copy of the New Testament is smuggled into Iran or neighboring countries where Iranians also live.
