This is a relay of a text message from the Secretary General of the Danish European Mission, Samuel, who is currently on the plane on his way home from Asia. Also on the trip was Vice President, Hans-Henrik Johansen.
Here he has had the opportunity to write from the air, sharing some of the many impressions from meetings with the Danish European Mission's contacts regarding North Korea.
He explains: It was very encouraging to meet again. One of our contacts has been working with the Danish European Mission since 2003, another joined in 2011, but even though we have a long history together, I heard things I had never heard before.
Among other things, the North Korean underground Christians are preparing to go to prison, as that is what happens if they are discovered. They prepare themselves firstly through prayer for a possible upcoming prison stay.
Next, they prepare themselves to be subjected to the 7-8 torture methods the prison authorities use against them. Finally, they memorize the entire Bible so that in prison they can be encouraged through the words.
In fact, many experience God supernaturally intervening so that they feel no pain during torture. In general, persecuted North Korean Christians experience many miracles, including physical healings, in a country where the healthcare system has collapsed.
At the same time, with the support of the Danish European Mission's donors, they receive medicine that they not only use on themselves, but that others in need also benefit from.
When I heard about the rich spiritual life of Christians in North Korea, I asked one of our contacts to ask the North Korean Christians if they would pray for Danmark. We can learn a lot from them in terms of devotion to God in prayer and Bible reading.
Our contact assured me that he would hand over the prayer topic and that the North Korean Christians will pray to God for us day and night.
Heartfelt thanks to all who stand together in prayer with the North Korean Christians, concludes Samuel Nymann Eriksen.
