This means that Muslims around the world abstain from food, drink and sex for 30 days from sunrise to sunset. They do this to fast and to obey Allah, who commands Muslims to fast in the Quran. But the month of Ramadan is also closely linked to the Quran, and every day Muslims around the world recite the Quran and pray.
Together with Norea, Danish European Mission has published the prayer booklet "30 Days of Prayer for the Muslim World". Here you can read about how Christians live among Muslims around the world - from Chicago to China. Each day focuses on a different people group, sharing their experiences, struggles and joys in a short piece of text. It includes 3 prayer topics that the local Christians have requested prayer for. So while Muslims pray to Allah, Christians in Danmark can pray to God. Praying for the Muslim world to meet Jesus as their savior. Because they don't need Quran recitation, fasting and prayers - they need Jesus.
In a time when it can be easy to get the impression that Muslims and Christians live in perpetual conflict and are enemies, prayer can move mountains. It helps local Christians around the world who live closely with Muslim neighbors, but prayer can also give us a love for people. A love for Muslims, among others. Prayer can change us, so use Ramadan and the prayer booklet to pray for people around you and for the Muslim world.
