I once gave a presentation at a church, and during coffee, a woman asked about Farshid - and told me, clearly touched, that she prayed for him every day. There are many Danes like this woman who have prayed for Farshid Fathi.

Farshid was a leader in the underground church in Iran and was therefore imprisoned on Christmas Day 2010 and sentenced to six years in prison. A year was then added to his sentence, despite the fact that he was a model prisoner. He spent the entire first year of his sentence in the dreaded Room 209, where he was locked in solitary confinement in Evin Prison in Tehran. He was held in Evin prison until August 2014 and was then transferred to Rajai Shahr prison in Karaj, about 60 km west of Tehran. In this notorious prison, Farshid was held for over eleven months alongside dangerous criminals, even though as a political prisoner he should not have been held there. He was granted an exemption and released on December 21, 2016. A month later, he moved to Turkey.

Farshid still needs prayer

Farshid is currently in dire need of prayer. Since his release, he has been stuck in Turkey, but wants to go to Canada where his children are. The good news is that he has now been granted refugee status by the UN in Turkey, but Canada will not yet accept him, says the Danish European Mission's partner Elam. His daughter Rosana is 15 years old and is experiencing many of the challenges that teenagers can struggle with. Therefore, it would be good if Farshid can come to Canada so he can be there for his children. His son Bardia is 12 years old. The children haven't seen their father for over eight years now. Please pray for his family and for him to come to Canada.

Thank you to everyone who prays! Prayer makes an indescribable difference for persecuted Christians.

You can also stand with the persecuted but brave Christians by handing them New Testaments - which they can give to people who long to read about God's love. It costs DKK 40 to ensure that a copy of the New Testament is smuggled into Iran or neighboring countries where Iranians also live.
