Thank you for 21 years of faithful service

In December 1996, the board of the Danish European Mission asked Henrik Ertner Rasmussen to become Secretary General of the organization, which would change focus from Eastern Europe to the Muslim world.

Henrik Ertner Rasmussen changed careers from a conservatory-trained musician to become a theologian specializing in Arabic and Islamology. He gained his mission experience in the Muslim world with seven years in Egypt, sent by Danmission, and in Eastern Europe, sent to Albania by the Moravian Danish Mission.

Henrik tells us about the time: "Since 1980, when I became a Christian, I have known about and supported the Danish European Mission. That I would later become the leader of the European Mission, I could not have imagined in my wildest dreams - but God exceeds our wildest fantasies! - I thank God and the Board of Directors for the trust shown in me when I was appointed Secretary General and for the many good times serving the Mission at home and abroad., among the partners and not least the secretariat together with the staff, without whom the European Commission would not be what it is, It is."

Henrik Ertner Rasmussen will continue to serve the cause of persecuted Christians, including consulting and lecturing, partly for the Danish European Mission and partly independently.

Generational change implemented step by step

As a young man, Samuel Nymann Eriksen read the Danish European Mission's magazine and books published by the Danish European Mission, where Eastern European Christians told about the persecution under communism, but also about God's supernatural intervention in the midst of hardship. Samuel holds an MSc in Political Science and had work experience from Rambøll Management and the Ministry of Education before joining the Danish European Mission in 2008. Since then, he has been involved in a wide range of tasks, from the development of digital communication, applications for government grants, monitoring visits to partners, lectures, financial management and the development of the magazine. Since 2015, Samuel has been responsible for personnel, finance, communication and projects, while Henrik has developed new areas of work, and the generational change has thus been implemented step by step over a number of years.

Samuel talks about the work: "I consider it a great privilege to be able to join in the work of helping and equipping the persecuted church to help those in need in the community and to be a witness in word and deed to the gospel of Jesus Christ, which is transforming thousands of lives in the Middle East, Central Asia and Asia today."

The generation change will be marked in connection with Danish European Mission's meeting on Saturday, April 14 in Sct. Johannes church in Herningwhere everyone is very welcome to participate.
