There is a deep longing to read the Bible in Iran right now. Thousands upon thousands of Muslims
are choosing to convert from Islam to faith in Jesus during this time.
Koorosh is a journalist from a very academic, strict Muslim family in Tehran. But when he was assigned to investigate why so many Iranians are becoming Christians right now, his life took a turn he could never have imagined.
He says: "I was working as a journalist at a prominent cultural magazine. One day, a colleague told me that she had heard that many Iranians are becoming Christians. The editors also thought it was a topic we should look into, and since I had a solid Muslim background, I got the job."
For a few months I was looking for an approach to this topic, but kept running into obstacles. Then, out of the blue, I met a woman who was distinctly different from anyone else I knew. I had a suspicion that she might be a Christian.”
Koorosh continues: "I made sure to befriend her and soon my suspicions were confirmed. She gave me a Bible and told me about the Christian faith. But my greatest achievement was that I convinced her to take me to a church that met in secret.
When I entered the church for the first time, I was dismayed to see a large group of Christian converts. I was filled with a mixture of disbelief, fear, anger and disappointment. How could all these people have left our religion?
What I heard people say about Jesus in church went against everything I had been taught. But I had to write my article, so for many months I went there every week. Gradually, my heart began to soften. I started reading the Bible myself. It was no longer just an academic exercise. In the Gospel of John, I saw that God is truly love and that He proved it by coming to earth to die for me.
In that moment, my heart was completely transformed. The next time I went to church, I went up front and knelt down to repent and give my heart to Jesus. Since that day, I have followed him. I quit my job at the magazine and never wrote the article", concludes Koorosh.
Is there anything greater than receiving Jesus' finished work on the cross and experiencing God's love?
It costs DKK 40 to give a copy of the New Testament to a person in Iran or neighboring countries where Iranians also live. You can give people the message that can truly set them free and satisfy the deepest longings of their heart.
