Watch video of Bible distribution in Sri Lanka

The Danish European Mission runs a Bible distribution project where thousands of Bibles are distributed to Christians who are so poor that they do not have the means to buy a Bible.

This and other videos were recorded during a trip to Sri Lanka by Christoffer Thinggaard from King Productions. Here he talks about the videos and his encounter with the Christians in Sri Lanka.

Why do you want to make videos for the Danish European Mission?

I find it more interesting to make videos for people like you than others, as my company was founded with the vision to help the church visually. I feel that what God has put on my heart harmonizes very well with the vision and mission of the Danish European Mission.

The work of the Danish European Mission is very important and very exciting, and I actually find it quite a privilege to make videos like this, even though it is hard work.

You produced the videos at a discount - why?

As I said, I want to support the church in its mission and it's also important to me that I contribute something and not just do it for the money. It is always a challenge to find the right discount, but it is important to me that I also contribute financially to an organization like yours.

What do you think of the Danish European Mission's projects in Sri Lanka?

It was a great experience for me to be in Sri Lanka and meet brothers and sisters who at the same time have greater need than I do, but at the same time have a unique relationship with Jesus.

I think the work of the Danish European Mission is on my personal top three of the most important things to do in this world. It is unbelievable how much is at stake for some people in relation to following Jesus, and it has been a great experience to get close to some of them.

What have you learned from traveling and visiting the Sri Lankan Christians?

I have learned something professionally as it is hard to spend a week on location, but meeting the employees of the Danish European Mission's partner organization, seeing their work ethic, their community and the passion for what they do expressed in a concrete way was very inspiring.

For example, there was an employee who lived 200 meters from the beach and couldn't swim. I was ashamed of my "why" question, as he had a completely different prioritization of leisure and work than me. I think he enjoys life in a completely different way, perhaps through his service, rather than lying on the beach with an ice cream.

I think it was also a great personal experience that our driver had a little girl the same age as my newborn son. It affected me that their conditions regarding maternity leave were significantly worse than ours. It was an eye-opener.
