Addiction quickly took hold and drew him into harder drugs. For nine years he struggled with heroin, opium, cocaine and amphetamines.
Then, out of the blue, his girlfriend became a Christian. Worse still, she refused to marry him unless he became a Christian too. Yousef hated Christians and even had murderous thoughts about a Christian leader he knew. But to appease his girlfriend, Yousef started attending a church led by someone trained through Elam Ministries. His heart was still hardened, however. The drugs also continued: sometimes he needed up to eight fixes a day, and he was still suspicious of the local Christians and the love they showed him.
One day, Yousef accidentally overdosed and ended up in a coma for two days. While in a coma, he had a dream: he saw Jesus take off the pure white robe he was wearing and put it on Yousef. When he woke up, Yousef finally surrendered, knowing that Jesus wanted to set him free from drugs. With the help of local believers, Yousef was freed from the chains of addiction. The change in his life was so great that Yousef's father subsequently gave his heart to Jesus, and the relationship with his family has begun to heal.
Pray for:
- Yousef at his service
- that many may be free from drugs in Jesus' name
- Churches need to be equipped to help drug addicts
Give Iranian Christians more New Testaments
Persecuted Christians in Iran are asking for more New Testaments. They are in the midst of a great revival and need New Testaments for the thousands of Iranians who are open to the Gospel.
Millions of people in Muslim Iran live in spiritual darkness. They don't know that they can know God as their loving father - simply by believing in Jesus Christ.
You can help meet their deep spiritual needs by making a gift so that the New Testament can be smuggled to the persecuted Christians in Iran. This means Christians can spread the Gospel and bring hope and joy to people in need.
For around DKK 247, you can help seven people. Your gift will be smuggled into Iran so people can receive the New Testament in their own language. 70 precious copies from you will cost approximately DKK 2,470. There is a desperate need in Denmark to help bring the Gospel to people in Iran.
