As we entered Banevolden, we were warmly welcomed by Iranians living in Danmark. They have come to faith in Jesus and are involved in the Metropol Network Church, with whom the Danish European Mission organized this seminar.
Iranian worship and food
We didn't only hear about Iran. Together with Christian Iranians, we could sing praises to God. Ethnic differences became secondary and we were one in faith. We also tasted delicious Iranian food. The dish was called Khraimeh Polo and was served with salad, rice and yogurt dressing.
"I will set my throne in Elam"
The speakers at the seminar were senior staff members of the Danish European Mission's partner organization for work in Iran, Elam Ministries. First, we got a historical insight into the great role Iran plays in the Bible. The prophet Daniel was prime minister of what is now Iran, Esther prayed for Iran and people from people groups from the Persian area listened to Peter's sermon on Pentecost in Acts 2:9: "Parthians, Medes and Elamites".
In Jeremiah 49:38 God says: "I will set my throne in Elam," which is part of the Persian Empire. That word is being fulfilled today. God is setting his throne in Iran, and people in their thousands are receiving Jesus as their Savior. The keynote speaker could boldly proclaim: Jesus is in Iran.
New Testaments smuggled in
Thousands of copies of the New Testament are being smuggled into Iran with the support of Danish European Mission donors. We heard of a great openness to the preaching of Jesus. The Iranian people have nothing against Jesus, they know him as a prophet from Islam, but are deeply touched to hear that he is the way to God and that through faith in him they can come to know God as their Father.
In the picture is Samuel Yeghnazar, leader of the Danish European Mission partner organization, who spoke passionately about what God is doing in Iran. He appealed to us to evangelize in Danmark - not only among Danes, but also Iranians, so they can share the Gospel with Danes and go back to Iran with the Gospel.
