Earlier this year, the pastor was informed that a Buddhist monk and two others were planning to attack him during his visit to parish members in Sidurangalawatte village, so he decided to stay home.
In the wee hours of the morning, the pastor, his wife and four sons, aged 14, 10, 8 and 2 ½ months, were asleep in their home when the house was suddenly attacked. The perpetrators smashed all the windows of the house with clubs. Some of the broken glass fell on the bed where the baby was sleeping, but luckily it did not hit the child. The pastor noticed that the streetlights were off during the attack. He called the emergency services, but the police never arrived. The family spent the rest of the night in fear. They reported the incident the next morning at the police station in Horana.
The three oldest children are traumatized by the attack and afraid to be in their home.
Pray for all the victims of this violent incident.
