One person was killed and nine others injured in a bomb attack on April 24 that targeted a TV center in a Christian area of Jos, where a large group of people had gathered to watch football. The perpetrators are believed to be Islamic extremists.

Eyewitnesses say it was around 10:15 am when the perpetrators drove past the scene and threw a bomb at the hundreds of Christians watching the game in one of the many TV centers in Nigeria where people like to gather and watch football. Staff at the nearby Janvak Hospital treated four of the injured under the watchful eye of police and other security personnel.

This bombing is the second attack in two weeks targeting the Christian area. During Easter celebrations, Islamic extremists were also suspected of detonating a bomb that injured five people just a few meters from the center. The center is often used by various churches in the Tudun Wada area of Jos as a base for evangelical campaigns targeting social gathering places in the area. Muslims and Christians live close but separate in the Tudun Wada area of Jos and the attacks have increased tensions between the two communities. There are eight churches in the area.
