Five Christians who were detained in prison but subsequently released on bail in February-March 2010 have now received their sentences from the Shiraz court. They are four men, Behrooz Sadegh Khanjani, Parviz Khalaj, Mehdi (Petros) Foorootan and Mohammad (William) Biliad and one woman, Nazli Makarian. All five have been sentenced to one year in prison for threatening state security and have been ordered to appear in court to serve their sentence.

Mrs. Nazli Makarian is seven months pregnant. If the authorities insist on detaining her because of her faith, her child will be born in prison.
