The importance of helping persecuted Christians around the world

Persecuted Christians around the world are first and foremost our brothers and sisters in Christ. The difficult circumstances they live in could have happened to us too (Hebrews 13:3), and we should never turn our backs on them.

Should we do so, it does not mean that they cease to exist or that this terrible deed does not take place, but that we as Christians have failed to help our own siblings in their time of need.

Since it is a fact that their spiritual life and relationship with God is suppressed, it is extremely important that the word of God, which is essential for spiritual growth, reaches them through those who are able to help, and that is us. Our help can be spiritual, material, financial, mental and musical. Prayer is also a powerful weapon that can be used to help persecuted Christians, because prayer knows no borders.

If we fail to help the persecuted Christians, I believe that it is the same as removing and destroying God's foundation from their precious lives. Knowing that there are other Christians being persecuted around the world for their faith in Christ, I appreciate the fact that I can serve God in freedom and do His will wherever and whenever. I will not take that right for granted.

I always keep in mind that His words tell us that we too will be persecuted for following Him (John 15:20). We all risk being persecuted in one way or another. As Christians, I believe we should make it a goal to spread the Gospel both to those who persecute Christians and to the persecuted themselves so that they can acquire total freedom to serve the Lord Almighty.
