In the case of the 29-year-old nun (featured in the Danish European Mission magazine no. 7, 2008, pages 8-9) who was raped during the August riots, she identified two people out of 80 who were lined up and confronted. The confrontation was held in a maximum security prison in Cuttack on January 5 this year. Although only ten people had been arrested in connection with the case, there were 80 among whom she had to identify the perpetrators of the assault.
A court in Baliguda in Kandhamal district had twice before set a date for a confrontation, but the nun, who had left Orissa after the incident, did not show up, seeking to reschedule the confrontation because she did not want to visit Kandhamal again.
