Encourage Azita and Omid
Azita says: My husband Omid and I came to faith in Jesus in 1999. Omid is deaf and dumb.
We started serving the Lord together in 2001. We were the first to come to faith in Jesus in our local area. Slowly but surely, we began to share the gospel with our community and people began to come to faith. In 2006, the first new Christians started meeting in our home. We prayed together, had fellowship and read the Bible.
But over time, there was fierce persecution. Not only from radical Muslims, but also from the authorities. Five times we were fined for illegal missionary work, as we did not meet in a legal church building but in private, which is not legal in our country.
To legalize our meetings, we were one hundred Christians in the region who applied to the authorities to have a church approved. All hundred people were questioned, including us. Once the police stormed our house when we had a meeting and arrested everyone. The police forbade us to talk about Jesus and gather as a church and even gather with other Christians in the city, which was an illegal injunction.
For a while, the district police checked our house every day, whether we gathered people or not. They wanted to scare us, but we continued to believe and follow Jesus. Even more people came to believe in him, especially the deaf. It is easier to be a Christian among deaf people than among hearing people because the majority do not understand or notice deaf people. Almost three hundred accepted Jesus, but many also fell away due to persecution from Islamists.
At the moment we are not holding Christian meetings in our house because we have been threatened with arrest, but we gather in other Christians' homes. People are very open, but the spirit of Islam is everywhere.
We pray for the salvation of people and ask you to stand with us in prayer.
Azita and Omid will be encouraged by a letter.
Here's how you do it:
