Chairman of Danish European Missions board of directorsNiels Peder Nielsen and his wife, Irene, are the tour leaders for the trip August 31 - September 12, 2019. Here they talk about the plans for the trip.
What can participants expect on the journey?
The journey will be filled with experiences, and we can briefly mention that we first fly to Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan, located where the Tian-Shan mountains begin. Here we visit Egehuet, a home for the socially vulnerable girlr, as Danish Europamissions Donor support.

We're heading up the Tian-Shan Mountains to the mountain lake of Song Kul. The "Mountains of Heaven" is an extended arm of the Himalayan mountain range. We spend one night in a yherb-camp by the lake. A yurt is a round tent built on a wooden frame covered with felt and covered with canvas, heated with a stove. The camp gives a good insight into the nomads' life and daily routine. The other nights we stay in good hotels. We will experience the nomads' traditional martial arts, skills on horseback and hunting with falcon or eagle.

In Kazakhstan, we will visit an exciting museum of the GULAG camps from the Soviet era. The visit gives a good insight into the dark part of the history of the Soviet Union and Kazakhstan. We then drive to Astana, Kazakhstan's beautiful new capital, also known as the Dubai of Central Asia. We have dinner at a "rotating" 360 degree restaurant on the 23rd floor with great views.
Can participants meet local Christians?
