Christians in Iran ask that we renew our prayers for Pastor Farshid Fathi, a Muslim believer serving a six-year prison sentence. Farshid was arrested on December 26, 2010 along with a number of other Christian leaders. He was taken directly to Evin prison in Tehran and has been there ever since. Initially held in solitary confinement, he has also endured periods of intense interrogation and has been denied contact with his family. In March 2012, he was convicted of anti-state political activity. The charges were based on his work as the leader of a network of house churches. In June, his appeal was denied and his six-year sentence was upheld. There are at least 19 other people currently in prison for their Christian faith or activities in Iran. Some of them - like Farshid - have been charged and convicted, but many have not yet been formally charged. The Christians who support Farshid ask for our prayers that:

  • Farshid, his wife and two young children experience Jesus' presence, peace and protection every day.
  • We pray the same for all the others convicted and imprisoned for their Christian activities.
  • That all those who are wrongfully imprisoned must be released.
  • That all officials associated with the causes must love justice, act rightly and learn about Jesus and choose to follow Him.
