A female Muslim who is a local worker in a refugee camp in the conservative Sunni province of Anbar told our relief team after weeks of observing their work in the camps in northern Iraq: "I am impressed. You Christians are helping us Muslims and Yazidis. You see our needs without asking what religion we belong to, as if it has no bearing on whether you want to help or not. I will support you however I can. Just let me know."
In a small refugee camp in Dohuk province, Muslims and Yazidis who had received aid told our partners: "Say thank you very much to your friends and partners. You always give us good quality things. You really see our needs and take good care of us."
Another aid recipient said: "Your distributions are always fair. You give to those who need it most".
"We wouldn't survive without you"
In a remote mountain village, where there is a lot of snow right now, the Yazidis who have fled here said to our relief team: "Thank you very much. You are the only ones helping us and bringing us aid. We would not be able to survive without you."
Christian pastor: "We can show God's love"
A Christian church leader in Dohuk said: "We Iraqi Christians can now show true love to those who have lost hope. Many are meeting God in the midst of this difficult time and they listen to us Christians who care for them. We Iraqi Christians can now show true love to those who have lost hope."
A grateful look says it all
Gratitude isn't always expressed in big words, but our relief team says they often see it expressed in the eyes of those receiving help and in the warm hugs they receive - especially during the harsh winter months when relief is especially needed.
Thank you to everyone who has donated relief aid to Iraq.
