Recipient: S. Periyasami
Employment category: Goat farming

Periyasami lost his wife and four of his eight children during the latter part of the war. Now he has been resettled and lives with his remaining four children. Periyasami works for the Mountain Savior Church in Puthukkudiyiripu in Mullaitivu district. Danish European Mission's partner, NCEASL, offered him the opportunity to earn a steady income by looking after two adult goats and a kid. Through this self-employment, Periyasami can now earn around 225 DKK per month by selling the goats' milk and meat. Periyasami thanks NCEASL for giving him the opportunity to support his family through goat farming.

Recipient: R. Kohilawathani
Employment category: Cattle breeding

Kohilawathani is a 35-year-old leader at the church in Kilinochchi. She lives with her parents and siblings. As she is the sole breadwinner of the family, she has taken the initiative to earn a living by breeding cows which she received from NCEASL as her father has asthma and cannot support the family. Since starting the project, she has earned a monthly income of 180 kr. by selling milk. Kohilawathani plans to sell a calf as soon as it is fully grown to raise even more money. Kohilawathani is very grateful for the source of income that NCEASL has created for her.

Recipient: R. Dayanesh
Employment category: Goat farming

Dayanesh's family went through many hardships, facing both war and displacement due to the 26-year-long ethnic conflict that ravaged the island. Dayanesh is the sole breadwinner of the family and struggles to support his wife and their 4-month-old son. Dayanesh also believes he has a responsibility beyond providing for his family - he and his wife both serve the congregation of Hebron Apostolic Church in Kilinochchi. As dedicated laborers in the Lord's vineyard, they had no means of income and were completely dependent on God's faithfulness. The two adult goats and a kid goat that Dayanesh received as a start-up grant from NCEASL gave him a stable income. He is now able to earn $180 a month through the sale of milk and meat from the goats. For Dayanesh, this scholarship is not only a livelihood but also an encouragement in his work for the church. Dayanesh believes that this scholarship is God's blessing on his family and he will do his best to develop and increase the benefits he receives from this gift.

Recipient: S. Suntharalingam

Suntharalingam works for My Savior Church in Kilinochchi. His wife and three daughters have been affected very badly by the war. They lost their home and everything they owned. He earns $270 a month selling eggs and meat, which helps him support his family while working for the church.

Mylananthan is a father of two daughters and a son. He works for Jesus Christ Gospel Ministry Church in Mullaitivu. His family was forced to move several times during the war and he lost his property and all his belongings.
