Danish European Mission's partner has sent this request for prayers for Pastor Farshid Fathi, whose six-year prison sentence was upheld at his appeal hearing last week. He has been imprisoned for 18 months so far and will now remain in the notorious Evin prison to serve the rest of his sentence.

Farshid was arrested in December 2010 for practicing his priesthood, but authorities have consistently portrayed his actions as political offenses.

This new development in the case shows once again the injustices committed against Christians in Iran. However, Farshid is a man after God's heart and God will be faithful to him. I am convinced that the more the church in Iran is persecuted, the more it will grow. Such injustices will only lead to even more Iranians wanting to know the Jesus that people like Farshid preach.

Farshid has become a shining light for Christ in Evin prison. So much so that the son of an Iranian Ayatollah commented in a YouTube video on Farshid's kindness and noted how much Farshid is loved by the other prisoners.

When you pray for Farshid, please pray for:

- Unwavering perseverance, the Lord's deep peace and God's protection to Farshid throughout the rest of his time in prison. Pray that he will continue to be a light in the darkness in Evin.

- Farhid's family, his wife Leila and their two children Rosana and Bardia. Pray that they will find comfort in the Lord and in His church during this time.

- Those who persecute Farshid and other Christians: pray that they will repent of their ways and come to know Jesus Christ.

- The Church in Iran: that it will continue to grow beyond our imagination and that our Iranian brothers and sisters will have free access to Scripture and fellowship with one another.

- Comfort and courage to the many other Iranian Christians who are in prison awaiting trial or currently serving a sentence in Iran for their faith.

Thank you so much for your continued prayers. When Christians are released from prison they often testify to me that they were strengthened through the prayers of their family around the world while they were incarcerated.
