In Iran, state persecution of Christians continues. The latest arrest occurred on 21.08.08, when Ramtin Soodmand turned himself in after repeated requests from the Ministry of Information in Tehran.

Ramtin is the son of Assemblies of God Church Pastor Hossein Soodmand, who was killed by the state in 1990 as a martyr for his faith.
"Your husband will be imprisoned for a very long time," they told his wife Mitra.

In early September, Mitra spoke to Ramtin on the phone for 2 minutes. Several times Ramtin said, "I'm OK, don't worry."

No other family or friends have been able to see or talk to Ramtin. His condition, whereabouts and the charges against him are unclear.
