On June 1, 2010, the Danish European Mission announced that 27-year-old Tohar Haydarov had been sentenced 10 years in prison for drug possession for "illegal sale of narcotics or psychotropic drugs in large quantities". These are charges that his fellow believers insist are fabricated and are a punishment for his church activities.
On July 8, 2010, the news service Forum 18 reports that Uzbek Baptists describe his health as normal. He also hopes that justice will be served and he will be released.
