Description

Andrew Brunson had been a missionary in Turkey for 23 years when he unwittingly became a hostage in a grand political game between Turkey and the US. He was wrongfully imprisoned for two years in Turkish jail on false charges of espionage, terrorism and arms smuggling before he was finally released in October 2018.

Andrew writes in a personal and compelling way about how he was in a cell with 20 radical Muslims and in solitary confinement. Here he went through a deep crisis of faith where he could not sense God's presence, doubted and approached mental illness. But through it all, he began to see the contours of God's plan and see his intervention.

Good reviews

5 stars in Kristeligt Dagblad: "The book is really exciting... It deprived me of several hours of sleep. It's the story of a Kafkaesque process, a nightmare you can't get out of. It's the story of a persecuted Christian who comes to his senses but is held fast by the amazement of faith."  - Søren Hermansen

Bodil Lanting in The Challenge: "The testimony in "God's Hostage" is powerful and authentic. It is not the story of a Rambo priest, but rather an anti-hero or an ordinary missionary who chose to honor God no matter the circumstances. Andrew Brunson's honest account can truly inspire faith and courage and deserves wide distribution."

Miriam Zealand in Faith and Mission: "What struck me most when I read the book was the thought of how far I myself am willing to go for the sake of the Gospel. How much do I dare to risk? How much do I dare to lose? If you dare to be challenged by these questions, I highly recommend this book."

Thomas Høyer in Impulse (formerly Indre Missions Tidende): "It is the author's honesty that is the strength of the book."
