Between Hebrew glossaries and medieval church history, the question on a Monday morning could almost be a little anxiety-provoking, because, well, what does Jesus say right there in the middle of everyday life?
But the question is good because it helps you stay focused! It's not the latest American YouTube preacher or a particular theologian from one of the different denominations that is important to ask. No, what does Jesus say? That's the important thing.
In March this year, I attended a secret gathering with a number of pastors and leaders from the church in Central Asia. Two years ago, I was also in one of the Central Asian countries where the Danish European Mission has a number of projects. Here we met passionate Christians, here we met great love for the Bible, and here we met living prayer meetings. It was neither government restrictions nor the tight budget that set the agenda, but rather the question: What does Jesus say?
There are days when I need to hear that I need to come to Jesus and cast all my burdens on him, for in him I can find rest in the midst of toil and inadequacy (Matthew 11:26). On other days, I can boldly face the day's tasks with the words "Nothing is impossible for God" (Luke 1:37), for it is not in myself that strength is found. The days are different, but let us daily seek and find guidance and strength for daily life in Jesus.
